Reminds me of a dispute between two friends. One considered himself very knowlegable in regards to current events and the other works with refugees from several countries. They were arguing over the existance of a government in the Sudan. He read about some officials with titles such as "president" and the sudanese government in a major newspaper and insisted that a government existed. She works with natives of the country and had to go the CIA fact book at her office in order to convince him that there has been several attempts over the last 12-13 years to institute a 'transitional' government outside of the country itself. Yes, the titles exist, but the presence, recognition, and authority are not recognized.
I've learned not to take what I read as fact. Generally, I look to the source or for different sources to back it up. Even when the info is factual, it can be twisted in so many directions.
That is if it's an issue I really care about. Otherwise I'm too lazy.
